about the author

Oscar Lawson has enjoyed writing short stories for his friends and family since he was young, and is now publishing his first book, TIGER, which he wrote, aged 15. He lives in the UK and loves creative writing and journalism, as well as science and coding which inspired many aspects of TIGER. Outside of writing he has supported the Honeypot Children’s Charity since he was 10, raising money and awareness for them. Oscar is dedicating TIGER to Honeypot, and donating some of the proceeds to the charity.

about the book

Archie is used to being top of his class, with his quiet genius and superhuman focus, but when a top-secret opportunity comes his way, he is tested to his limits. Is the 13-year-old up to the challenge?

Live the story with Archie every step of the way, through adventure, challenges and mystery, and even have a go at solving some puzzles included in the book.

A portion of the proceeds from this book will go to the Honeypot Children’s Charity which supports amazing young carers in the UK aged 5–12 in their work caring for ill family members.

Charity

Some of the proceeds from the sale of TIGER are going to the Honeypot Children’s Charity, which supports young carers in the UK aged 5-12 who look after ill parents or relatives.

Young carers have to do everything at home, from laundry and cleaning, to cooking for their family and helping with siblings. This is a huge responsibility and means young carers often struggle at school and in making friends.

Honeypot gives year-round support and frequent respite breaks at their residential houses in the New Forest and Wales, helping young carers to have a happy childhood, and time away from their responsibilities. The chance to interact with other kids in their position and have fun is vital for their development. Each year, Honeypot offers places to over 2,500 young carers and vulnerable children across the UK.

Oscar has been supporting Honeypot since he was 10, and has raised over £6,000 for them doing physical challenges and events, as well as being a ‘Honeypot Hero’ – a young ambassador raising awareness about young carers.

There are around 800,000 young carers in the UK, an issue not talked about often. Honeypot relies on public donations as they receive little government funding to provide their support to young carers. They are the only charity supporting young carers under 12.

By buying a copy of TIGER, you are helping to support young carers. Find out more about Honeypot’s amazing work and donate directly at https://www.honeypot.org.uk
