Teenage Author’s Book is a Roaring Success

In November, 17-year-old author Oscar Lawson published his book “TIGER: The secret intelligence group looking for a brilliant mind” with Austin Macauley Publishing, and it’s been well received and promoted. Oscar has been on a local podcast, featured in a magazine, attended an event to sell books, and even got national coverage from the charity the book is in aid of, the Honeypot Children’s Charity, which supports young carers aged 5-12.

TIGER is an action/ adventure book for kids aged 8-13 and features a quirky 13-year-old genius coder who gets recruited by a top-secret organisation to solve mysteries and fight crime with them. The book even features some puzzles for readers to have a go at themselves.

Shortly after launching TIGER, Oscar went on Surrey Heath Cast podcast, to talk about TIGER and the inspiration behind writing a book as a teenager. He was interviewed by former Crimewatch presenter Jacqui Hames and her co-host Dr Al Pinkerton, Surrey’s Parliamentary Political Candidate. Oscar also had a piece published in a local magazine, promoting TIGER to lots of people and generating interest online, and for a carol service event during which he sold lots of copies of his book and raised over £40 in additional donations to the Honeypot Children’s Charity.

TIGER has been warmly received by many, with favourable reviews on Amazon and Waterstones where the book is available to buy.

Finally, the Honeypot Children’s Charity published a short interview with Oscar Lawson, detailing his inspiration and the challenges of publishing. The interview is available online and was featured in their nationwide newsletter. Some of the proceeds from every sale will go to Honeypot to support vulnerable young carers.
